Weekend in Weymouth & Dorset Seafood Festival

Last year, we had a weekend away in Weymouth - and we enjoyed it so much that we decided to go back this year for another holiday. This time, we timed our trip so that we could visit the Dorset Seafood Festival (we love food!).

Of course, we had to start our trip off with a visit to Lulworth Cove en route to our hotel. They serve up some pretty great whitebait at the cafe there - one of our favourites!

Weymouth was covered in flags, ready for the festival - and it looked like the perfect seaside town!

Dinner on the first night was at our favourite restaurant in Weymouth - The Dorset Burger Company (link here) - where they serve up deeee-licious burgers and great cocktails - all at a very reasonable price. What's not to love?

Their cocktails do a fabulous job of washing down the burgers - Pimms was our tipple of choice on this occasion!

We arrived at the seafood festival hungry and excited to try some local fish. The first stop for us was the Sophie Michell stand, where they were serving up some rather delicious (and visually appealing!) Dorset crab and fries.

Just look at that! Yum. Dorset Crab fries with chilli mayo, samphire (my favourite), avocado and spring onion. We did go back for seconds later on that day...

I'd highly recommend a visit to the seafood festival if you're in Weymouth - there's loads of fresh, local food to taste and Weymouth is a fantastic seaside spot to visit for a weekend away.

Next up was a harbour tour - the streets were so busy with the festival that we felt a tad overwhelmed, so we hopped aboard the nearest boat and went out for a ride.

The harbour tour took us round to Portland to see some of the sights, and then back into Weymouth Harbour. We thoroughly enjoyed it, and I'd recommend doing so if you get a chance!

Another favourite spot of ours in Weymouth is The Ship Inn (link here), which is right on the water next to the quay - and is absolutely enormous so it's unlikely you won't get a table. We opted for whitebait, washed down with cups of tea. Delightful!
